The "It" Hat

Everyone who knows me and has followed my blog knows it's extremely rare to see me in a hat.  They just don't look good on me.  Which sucks because there are so many pretty ones out there.  Well recently I stopped into my favorite boutique and they just happened to have a small handful of the "it" hate of the season.  You know which one, the floppy wool hat.  I decided to goof off with my daughter and try on hats.  And fell in love with this one.  It looked so cute on me (especially with the outfit I was wearing.. here!) so I ended up buying it.  I of course asked the husband's opinion and got a sure looks good.  Men!

Anyway I have seen this hat all over the place and it goes with virtually everything, from casual to dressy.  I wasn't able to wear it for a few days, but finally I decided to pull it on for my dad's birthday this past weekend.  And since I also had this beautiful sweater that I recently bought from Roaming Boutique, I knew they'd be a perfect match.  Bonus points, my parents live on an old farm and they were surrounded by corn and apples so I had to snap a few pictures with those in the background!

Textures and Prints

This past weekend was great.  The weather was the perfect Fall temps and we got to spend a lot of family time together.  And since my husband loves car shows, we took a trip to a local town for their annual Mum Festival.  The kids love seeing all the spray painted mums in everyone's drive ways, the hubby loves the cars and I love seeing all the beautiful houses and window shopping!  And of course since we happened to be near one of my favorite boutiques and they just happened to be open late AND having a sale, I had to stop in!  I finally caved and bought the "famous" Fall Floppy Hat and this amazing black and gold zipper peplum blazer.  So keep an eye out on my Instagram feed and for future posts where I'll show those off!

This outfit was perfect for walking around a car show (shhh I did end up switching to flats since I didn't want my feet to get blistered from my high heeled sandals!).  By the end of the night I was so glad I decided to wear jeans and a 3/4 top!  I also like the little pop of leopard you see on my belt!  My husband don't understand how I could mix so many prints together, but I have to say I'm pretty happy with how far I've stepped away from my comfort zone.  I love mixing prints and textures together and I hope it comes across well matched instead of Jim Carey in Ace Ventura!  And of course I can't forget about my favorite tumbler from Starbucks!  As soon as I saw this gold ombre, I had to get it and then of course I had to monogram it!

Happy Monday!

Plum Perfect

(Image via Google)

Yay!!  It's officially my favorite time of the year.  The leaves are changing colors and the nights are getting cooler.  And to welcome this gorgeous Fall day I wore my favorite destroyed jeans and this amazingly cute sweater.  Now it's time to get the house decorated for Halloween and start making those Christmas wishlists!

Happy Fall Y'all!

Grid Print

My little photo bomber!

When your husband takes a nap and you need to leave but still need your picture taken, then you ask your 7 year old son to be your photographer!  I think we ended up with about 40 photos must of them it blurry (because he was laughing) or the look on my face is weird since he kept snapping when I was talking to him!  But hey these turned out pretty good for him!

Today's outfit is on repeat, but mixed up to fit the warmer weather during the day and the chillier temps at night!  Sadly all of these pieces are no longer available but I'll attach a couple of links for similar tops.

Happy Monday!

Friday Favorites

It's been a couple of weeks since I've posted my Friday Favorites.  The last 2.5 months have been insane between craft shows, party planning and family commitments.  Finally have all this time things have finally slowed down a bit for me!  So here are my Friday Favorites!

1.  My Glam Wall!  Most of you who have followed me for a while know that I'm a big crafter.  I love to make pretty much anything that I can and of course I love all things "glam".  So for the last several months I've been busy making and adding items to my wall in my office.  I think it's safe to say it's pretty much completed!

2. Starbucks Mugs/Tumblers!  Is it me or what, but Starbucks has been putting out some freaking amazing tumblers and travel mugs lately!  I'm not a coffee drinks, but I could drink all day long.  I found my gold tumbler a few months ago and just recently picked up this amazing houndstooth one.  Originally they left a blank circle in the middle where the logo should go.  This bugged me a lot so I fixed that problem by getting my baby out (my silhouette cameo) and made a monogram in gold to add to each mug.  Now I won't have to worry about someone taking off with it, but it also makes it look more complete!

3. Cake Stands.  This one I blame on my best friend Liz.  She's gotten me into obsessing over cake stands.  I want all types in various sizes.  I've slowly been upgrading items in my house and since I love to entertain I figured I really need some.  I've only got a couple right now but here are a few of the ones I'm currently drooling over!

4. Vests, Ponchos, Capes and Cardigans.  With Fall trying to break through and stay I've noticed myself being more and more drawn into these this season.  I've already invested in a couple of each, but I'm looking/hoping to add a few more to my closet this season.  I love the verstility of each one.  The capes just give you that "English" chic look I like, where the vests are more casual.  Then the ponchos are perfect to cuddle up on the couch in or just going out on a chilly day, same as the cardigans.  There are just so many endless options with these.
My dream list this season:

(1st: Merchant 31, 2nd: Mint Julep, 3rd: Merchant 31, 4th: Hazel & Olive)

(1st: Mint Julep, 2nd: Merchant 31, 3rd: Hazel & Olive, 4th: Hazel & Olive)
5. Favorite Book of the Week.  Lately I find myself reading a lot of mob romance books.  Not really sure why, but they've peeked my interested.  Well this week I was looking at the bookstore on my Kindle and came acrossed Transcending Darkness.  It sounded pretty good and for .99 I figured why not.  Needless to say I couldn't put this book down.  It's over 500 pages, but it was so good.  There were parts I was fighting back tears, times when I was shocked but a lot of smiles too.  So if you're looking for a good read check this one!

6. And lastly.. my blogiversary is coming up soon.  And since this will be my 2nd anniversary I wanted to do something special and have a give away!  I won't be announcing it yet, but I'll give a hint.. I've shown it in a post within the last month!  It's a retired item and to me is a classic piece.  So keep you eyes out and check back on my blog to see when I announce the giveaway!
