Shop Small

I love the holidays but it seems like I have less time to get on here to do some blogging.  Pretty bummed too that I totally spaced on taking my outfit photos over the last couple of days.  But with prepping for Thanksgiving, having my parents over for a visit, getting the house ready for Christmas and spending family time together, well it just slipped my mind!

I normally avoid trying to go out on Black Friday, the crowds tend to be insane, the deals iffy and the lines are crazy.  But a local boutique here was having their storefront Grand Opening and I had a gift card.  So needless to say I had to go out!  And I couldn't be any happier.  First of Shop Taylor Monroe is a great boutique with affordable and stylish clothes.  Then the store front is ah-mazing!  All blacks and golds and just *sigh* glamorous!  The staff that greeted me were so kind and helpful and I just wanted to pick up one of everything!  But since my husband probably doesn't feel like filing for bankruptcy, I have to pace myself!  But I was able to get a super soft sweater, another furry vest and a gorgeous necklace!  You'll get to see the vest and necklace on an upcoming post, or if you follow my on Instagram you can see it there.

So since today is Small Business Saturday I geared my outfit towards items I love and have bought from small businesses.  I have found several favorite boutiques that I like to shop at.  Some of them have grown pretty big, while others are still growing.  Check out my favorite places under my shops tab!

Color Play

I actually wore this outfit earlier last week, but since my life seems to be getting busier I haven't been able to post until today.  I wore this to a club board meeting and couldn't get enough of all the different colors and how well they just blended together!

The picture obviously doesn't do this outfit justice, but with the sun setting a lot earlier and having to wait until the hubby comes home from work, I'm left with having to take a lot of photos inside.  And of course the lighting is horrible.

The blazer is a gorgeous navy blue.  I've had it for a couple of weeks now and just couldn't decide how I wanted to wear it without making me look frumpy.  I love this purple summer tank and figured since the color tones were in the same family it would look good.  Adding the green scarf just added the frosting to the cake.  I kept everything else pretty low key so the colors would be the statement in this outfit!

Pinterest Inspired

So I've been pretty much buried under about a mound of blankets guzzling a few gallons of hot tea lately!  I am so not a cold weather person.  And right now I feel like I'm living in Alaska again.  No thanks, 3 years was enough for me!  But welcome to Ohio right... snow, ice and crazy insane winds.

Since I've been buried under my blankets I've been keeping my outfits pretty low key: jeans and a sweatershirt.  Nothing really spectacular to be posting about.  But I had to get out of my house yesterday (the perks of being a stay at home mom), not for anything exciting, but because I had to go to the dentist.  Ugh..again no thanks!  I figured since I had to get out and I didn't want to scare the locals, I would actually put on clothes!

This outfit I fell in love with because of pinterest.  Evil evil site!  I pinned this look months (probably even a couple of years) ago and I was pumped when it dawned on me that I had something similar to this in my closet.  After a couple of days of looking at it and deciding if it really did look good together, I finally went for it.  And once the makeup and accessories were added I couldn't be any happier.  It sort of fit my mood too.  The dark and light greys fit in perfectly with the artic temperatures outside.

Sorry some of the photos are a tad blurry.. I couldn't stand still because the wind was making me freeze!

Most of the pieces in this outfit are older ones and as of right now I can't find any similar pieces.  Once I do I will update this!

Simple Embroidery

Happy Friday!
Is it me or is this month flying by quickly?!  I can't believe Thanksgiving is about 2 weeks away!  I'm going to keep today's post short and sweet since I have a busy day ahead and hopefully a successful weekend ahead as well.

Yesterday's outfit was all about wanting to be casual but slightly dressed up.  So of course I went to my go to blazer.  I love this embroidered tank and decided to pair it with the blazer.  And since I can't seem to get enough of scarves this year, I added this cute lacey white scarf.  Sadly it didn't do a thing to keep me warm since it was in the 20's, but at least it was pretty!

I hope y'all have a great weekend and wish me luck at my 2nd craft show tomorrow!

Currently Crushing On

With Thanksgiving and Christmas quickly approaching I've been crazy busy.  I've got my craft show this weekend, Christmas party planning meetings, Thanksgiving and lots of Christmas shopping to do.  And I love every minute of this craziness.  The holidays are the best time of year.  Lots of family time, all the decorations and getting to spoil my kids rotten.  But of course I like to treat myself here and there with a little something pretty.

Then comes the dreaded, "What do you want for Christmas?".  Every year (since I graduated High School) I always dread this question.  It seems the older I get the harder it is for me to give my husband and parents a wish list.  One because I tend to just go out and get whatever it is I want and two it's just hard to decide what I want or need.  I remember one year asking for baby clothes and nursery decorations for my son!  Yup welcome to adult/motherhood!

So after a lot of online window shopping and thinking I finally came up with a few items that I am just crushing on that I hope Santa brings me!

Simple and Plaid

I have been totally rocking the lazy look lately!  With the weather being all over the place and trying to get everything I need ready for my upcoming craft show I've been a hot mess!  So yesterday I decided alright, but down the lazy clothes and get dressed!

So of course on the day I decided to finally get back to looking like a human.. I have nothing to wear.  Zip zero nada!  Okay not really, but I know everyone woman has felt like that from time to time.  And yesterday was my day.  So I decided to keep it simple and throw on my favorite skinnies and my simple white piko.  I love how just adding one or two small and simple items can also instantly make your outfit stand out more.  So I added my new favorite plum plaid scarf and a cute necklace and I was set.  Needless to say I didn't go anywhere, but I did feel pretty darn cute!

Happy Halloween

Happy Halloween

I love those days where things seem to be coming together and you're feeling sassy.  I don't know what it is but the last couple of weeks I feel like I've been in a funk.  Barely touched any of my crafting items (which is kind of scary since I have a bazaar coming up), not in the mood to really bake, just feeling off.  Well for whatever reason I finally snapped out of it yesterday.

I baked 2 dozen cupcakes for my husband to take into work today (Friday), started the never ending pile of laundry and managed to get a few craft projects finished.  But the one thing I was the most happiest about was meeting with my son's teacher.  I couldn't stop smiling after hearing about how incredibly smart he is and how he's already so well advanced for only being a 1st grader!  Needless to say I am one proud mommy right now!

Now onto yesterday's look.  I am so in love with my leather leggings.  They just seem to instantly make you feel sexier or edgier!  I also really love wrap tops.  I feel like they are figure flattering on all body shapes.  Plus I really love this one, the colors are beautiful but the material is so insanely soft.  I decided to pair them with my favorite boots (which I obviously wear a lot!).  Keeping the jewelry simple just completed the look.

Ps.  Sorry for the poor lighting and crazy face.. the sun was setting and in my eyes, but we had to get these photos before our teacher conference!
