Favorite Looks of 2015

Happy Monday Ladies!  I still can't believe Christmas has already come and gone and the New Year is only a few days away.  Christmas was so much fun, we got up early and the kids dug right into their Christmas gifts.  Which of course meant the husband and I spent the rest of the day putting together and setting up all their new items.  But getting to spend the day with my husband, kids and my parents was so worth it.  Seeing Christmas through the eyes of your children makes it even more magical.

Now that the year is coming to and end I thought I'd do a little look back at some of my favorite outfits from this year!  I've got a bunch a cute new looks I'm putting together (and if the rain ever holds off long enough to take photos) so be sure to check back soon for those looks or follow me on instagram: hummingbirdheels for a first look!

A Touch of Plaid

This time of year I'm always busy, but even more so this year.  Lots of party planning, shopping and plans.  Today's OOTD is all about comfort.  I love these wedge boots, they're comfortable and perfect for running lots of errands.  And keeping the rest of my look simple is key, especially when you're in and out of the car and stores!  Plus I just love the plaid details on the cuff and collar!

Keeping it Simple in Black

I am so guilty of this.  My parents used to hate it when I was in High School and all I wanted to wear was black.  And of course at the time I thought it was unacceptable to like black since I was far from being a goth.  But I can't help it, there is just something about that color that calls to me.  I remember the first time I painted my nails all black, people gave me the strangest looks.  Then one day I was like screw it, I'm not going to stop wearing something just because others might think it's weird.

So my obsession grew.  I'll admit that a good chunk of my clothes and shoes are black, but it's a classic color for a reason.  Everything matches it and the shade will never change!

I recently picked up this dress from Taylor Monroe.  I was out running errands and one of my plans was canceled while I was on my way there, so I decided to take a detour and stop in TM since it had been awhile.  I love this boutique a lot since there is a lot of black and gold to go around!  My two favorite colors, if you couldn't tell! lol  My main reason was to find the perfect item for my Christmas party I'm hosting.  Of course I found something (stay tuned for that one!) and while I was browsing I saw this dress.

I love that it is light weight and has the look of a blouse but in a dress form.  Plus the empire waist instantly gives you curves if you're like me and have a straight no curves torso.  And even better it looks amazing with my OTK boots.  Can you tell that I'm obsessed with these shoes?!  I decided to keep my outfit very simple by adding just a few touches of gold accessories.  I also love the barest hint of legs which will be nice once the weather really starts to drop.
