Casual in Neutrals

My daughter insisted that she needed to carry my bags, so of course I had to snap a picture of her!

Some days you just need a little retail therapy.

And since I'm a lover of boutiques I decided since it was cold and rainy out I needed to hang out at one of my favorite go to boutiques, Merchant 31.  I've mentioned this place on more than one occasion and have shown several of their pieces that I own.  I just love how all of their clothes are totally on trend with an affordable price ticket.  And being a stay at home mom, that is a huge factor for me.  So I grabbed a friend and we headed out!  Keep at eye out on my IG (hummingbirdheels) page and here for all my new goodies.

Today's outfit was all about keeping it casual.  I had lots of errands to run and a Christmas party meeting to go to so I wanted to be stylish, yet comfortable.  The vest I bought at Marshall's last year and I still love it this year.  I believe I even saw it in stores again last month.  I like that it's sweater material with a touch of fur in the front so it's a small dose of faux fur.  Pairing it with a simple black dolman top, my favorite ripped jeans and my new boots that the hubby bought for our anniversary earlier this month.  Since I went heavy on the bracelets, I kept the rest of my jewelry simple.

Classic Lines

There is something about a nice clean lined outfit that makes me feel extra pretty.  Plus I just love wearing any combination of black and white that I can!

This top from Merchant 31 is fastly becoming one of my favorite go to tops.  It's just so classic but versatile.  Pairing it with skinny black jeans and my OTK boots keeps the rest of the look clean looking.  Of course I'm a sucker for accessories (and arm candy), so to bring this look up a little more I played with lots of accessories.  A fun necklace and simple earrings but lots of bling on my wrist!

Happy Monday!

Blazer and Boots

I swear I am a sucker for blazer and boots.  I'd be so happy to wear this combination almost everyday.  As I was getting ready for a meeting that I had (I may not have a "job" but I do love volunteer work!) I knew I wanted to be a tad bit more professional looking.  So of course I went for my blazer first.  And I can't get enough of, what I like to call, my "victorian" top that I wore here.  The two paired together looks amazing.  Not to mention I have been dying to wear my new OTK boots since I got them.

Blazers are almost my go to item when it comes to wanting to be a little more dressed up or professional.  They are so versatile.  Wear them with jeans and tee, skirts, shorts even dresses.  The list is endless.  I think every woman needs to own at least one classic black blazer.  It's like the LBD for everyday wear.

OTK and thigh high boots are super popular this season and I am so excited with this pair of boots that I have.  I love how they can instantly make a statement to your outfit.  Pair them with skinny jeans or leggings for a more casual look.  Or be a little more sexy and pair them with a short dress or shorts with tights.  These aren't Julia Roberts in Pretty Woman so have some fun with them and make them yours.

I love DSW, nothing better than designer shoes with a small budget!  I have a pair of thigh highs that I currently have my eye on, but my husband's eyes might bug out if I buy anymore shoes right now! lol  Below are a few of the boots I have my eyes on!

Stripes

I love taking a top and finding a new way to wear it.  I've always worn this with black and brown leggings (since those who are shorter than me wear it as a dress).  But one day I was looking around my closet and thought why don't I try these with my favorite jeans.  And sure enough I love this look 10x better than how I wore it here!  Plus these wedge boots really complete the casual look.

I'm currently playing catch up after our busy weekend (which is why this post is a little late).  We took our kids to a local pumpkin patch where they each got to find their own (large!) pumpkins.  Of course we had to watch our KC Royals play (and win) in the ALCS games and we finished off the weekend carving those pumpkins!  Our daughter wanted a KC Royals one where as our son wanted a Batman one.

Happy Monday Ladies!

Rocker Chic

I know I've said it before, but I love taking an item that I've had for awhile and updating it with one or two new pieces.  I've had these boots and blouse for a couple of years now, but just by adding a pair of distressed jeans and a chic moto jacket and it's instantly a new look.

What's your favorite item that you've made "new" again?
