Pop of Color & Day 6 of Blog Challenge

The one thing I love about the colder months are that we can layer.  But the one thing I hate, is when it's been cold for so long and I'm ready to start breaking out my heels, tanks and shorts.  So of course when I did my mini shopping spree at Charming Charlie last week, pretty much all the items I picked up where warmer weather items.  But I wasn't going to let that stop me from wearing this amazing purple dress.  And since I'm pretty tall, I was able to get away with wearing it as more of a tunic than a dress!

At first when I bought the dress, I was a little disappointed since it's such a flowy item.  Flowy and me don't mix, it makes me look like I'm either 9 months pregnant or just fat.  So I was able to find the perfect braided belt to match it (that way I can give myself a waist).  Well the problem came that it was in the negatives and this is a tank top dress!  Simple fix, I added my favorite go to blazer, my amazing white jeggings and some knee high boots and ta da.. problem solved!  It felt great to add a little pop of color to my outfit and still managing to stay warm.  Add in this gorgeous blue jewel tone bag and I'm all set.  Now I can't wait for it to warm up so I can wear the dress with heels!

Dark Animal Prints & Day 5 of the Blog Challenge

No matter what season it is, I will pretty much always wear black or a dark color tone.  This top was one of my new "birthday" finds from Charming Charlie.  Seriously how amazing is this top.  It's sheer, so I can wear it most of the year, it has an animal print on it and the gold shimmers!  Plus with the added leopard print in my new Miche bag just makes happy.  I'm all about animal prints, but most times I try not to go overboard in pairing them together.  But since the print in the top is so subtle I figured the bag would make a nice statement.

Sticking with the brown neutral color palette I've got going here, I kept my jewelry to a minimum and wore golds.  The brown boots just kind of blended it all together.  I try not to do too many of the same colors in one outfit (unless it's all black, because that's amazing together), but with this winter weather, I was having a dark mood day!

(*PS, please ignore my funny/red face.. I'm still fighting this annoying head cold that will not go away!)

Casual Neutrals & Day 4 Blog Challenge

Well this past Friday I celebrated my 30th birthday.  I still can't believe I've finally turned the big 3-0.  But so far this new decade of my life is starting out pretty good.  I enjoyed a great lunch with some amazing people, did a little shopping (Charmin Charlie is so dangerous) and had a nice dinner date with my husband at the Cheesecake Factory.  Plus my first order of Miche purses finally came in, so now I have a small handful of new handbags to pair with my outfits.  Problem will be deciding which one to use first!

I am so in love with today's outfit.  The booties are part of my latest Charming Charlie shopping trip (I did mention that place was dangerous right?!) and I just can't get enough of my distressed skinnies.  The leopard print scarf/vest thingy was a Christmas gift from my mother in law.  It's a pretty neat item and can be worn a couple of different ways.  Plus it has leopard print and everyone knows I can never say no to leopard!

Now for day 4 of the blog challenge: my guilty pleasure.

Oh boy.  This is a tough one since I have a few.  My drama shows are one for sure, I hate having drama in my life but I'll watch it on tv!  I love my vampire romance and other romance books.  And another favorite guilty please is a quirky one.. I love to eat dessert for breakfast!

Double OOTD & Day 3 Blog Challege

So I had originally planned to post these outfits last week.  Well life happens and I was unable to.  Then after my big Valentine's date I had planned to post my beautiful dress, well when we got home my husband pulled up our floor since it's been having issues, only to find out we had some major water damage.  So this past week I haven't been able to update.  Got to love house drama!

But now that we are finally getting things back on track (even though my kitchen looks like a war zone) I can finally post these two outfits!

The first one was for a Mardi Gras social.  Since I didn't want to go all out and buy new items just for a couple of hours (and I doubt I would have worn anything like that again) I kept things simple.  I have this old purple sequin tank top, that I paired with my go to blazer and added my green scarf.  Of course I had to add in my amazing purple booties.  To top off the outfit and Mardi Gras theme, I bought this beautiful black and gold mask.  I'm already looking forward to the masquerade social later this year so I can wear it again!

The second outfit is my Valentine's outfit.  Mother Nature decided to play a cruel joke on me and make it extremely cold, windy and snowy.  But after planning this outfit for awhile I wasn't going to let it get in my way!  I typically never get the chance to really get all dolled up like this so I decided to splurge a little.  Red is totally not one of my go to colors, but I couldn't pass up on this one.  I love the A line dress with the criss cross neckline.  It really gave me a beautiful hourglass figure.  I also have been lusting after these heels for so long that I finally too the plunge and bought them.  And I couldn't have been happier.  The heel is a little lower than I normally wear, but they are so incredibly comfortable I couldn't resist!  Once the snow melts, I can't wait to pair them with some skinnies!

Today's blog challenge is: my earliest childhood memory.
It's a little foggy, but I would have to say my earliest memory would have been when I was around 5-6 living in Hawaii.  I remember playing with my next door neighbor in the swimming pool.  Details are hazy, but I remember always having a lot of fun with her.

Boots from DSW, Coach handbag and Jewelry from Lia Sophia and H&M
Valentine's Outfit: Dress from Shop at Obsession, Shoes from DSW, Purse from Miche

Casual Fur and Day 2 of Blog Challenge

I love this outfit.  Simple, easy and me.  Everything from the simple jewelry down to my fun boots this outfit is so much fun.  I always tend to pair my distressed jeans with my knee high boots, but today I wanted to try something different.  I bought these boots about a year or so ago and haven't worn them much.  Pairing them with a simple black top and my statement fur vest I can consider this outfit complete.  Since I didn't want anything to overpower the vest I kept my jewelry and handbag simple.

Here's a sneak peek of my Valentine's Day outfit!

Now onto today's blog challenge (day 2).  Meaning behind my blog name:
Heels, Handbags and Hormones.

Well this should be pretty obvious.  My blog used to be called Hummingbird Heels.  When I first started blogging and struggling to find a name I asked my friends on Facebook for advice.  My former Chief, who I still talk to and think of as family, told me he always associated hummingbirds with me.  His reason: I always had so much energy and would jump from one thing to the next.  Well after my blog started growing more, I was having a hard time "fitting" that name.  Plus we had just moved and I felt like I needed a change.  I knew I wanted to keep Heels in the title since I am completely obsessed with heels.  But thinking of the rest of the name was harder than I thought.  Now keep in my we had just moved and I was having a super hard time adjusting and trying to meet new friends.  I had also just recently "treated" myself to a Michael Kors bag.  So one night after I was being emotional yet again, my husband looks at me and says I have the perfect title for you blog.  Heels, Handbags and Hormones!  He told me it describes me perfectly.  So that is how my blog came by its new name!

Blog Challenge Day 1

With Valentine's Day just around the corning I have been going crazy with planning a great date with the perfect outfit.  My husband and I seriously haven't had a Vday date since before we had kids.. so that would be 7 years ago! lol  So each day until the big day is here I'll show a sneak peak of my outfit I'm planning to wear.  I just hope it'll take my husband's breath away.  We normally never really dress up for our few and far between dates, but with this one I really wanted to go all out.

So today's sneak peak isn't exactly outfit related, as much as date plans related.  I'm sure I won't be the only wife taking her husband to see this:

Catching Up!

Hello again my lovely lady bloggers!  I've missed y'all again.  Hopefully this will be my last hiatus for awhile.  I sort of hit a slump where I wasn't really feeling fashionable or like I had anything worth posting.  Plus, I had another bazaar I just finished up so I was super busy making a few new signs/decor and filling a couple of orders.  Make sure to check out the bottom of the post for all those new creations!

Over the last month it seems like so much as happened.  I've been busy planning some fun socials for a wonderful group that I'm a part of and I love every aspect of it.  The planning, organizing and of course the socializing.  It's been a ton of fun and I can't wait to continue with it.  On top of that we've been planning our son's upcoming 7th birthday.  I still can't get over that my son is almost 7.  Wasn't he just a baby?!  Plus my big 3-0 is right around the corner.. and I have mixed feelings about that!  But one thing that is coming up in roughly a month is our trip to NYC!!  I've been bugging my husband non-stop about this trip.  I think he's getting nervous about letting me loose in NY with my wallet and being surrounded by so many amazing stores.

Starting tomorrow I will be doing a 30 day blog challenge that a few of my friends have also started.  I will try to have some fun fashion to post along with it!

But for now enjoy all my newest signs I've created!

-xoxo Beth
