90s On Now

(a little blooper... just enjoying the cool air!)

(Baby girl wanted to take a photo with mommy.. who am I to say no!)

*Sigh*  This outfit is kind of depressing me today.  I wore this last week while we were enjoying the amazing taste of Fall like weather and today we're back to sweltering heat and humidity.  But I have to admit looking at these photos again makes me super excited for Fall to fully arrive.  The boots, sweaters, leaves changing and more.  It's my favorite season!

This past weekend was spend celebrating my daughter's 4th birthday.  Tomorrow (her actually birthday) I'm taking her out while daddy is at work and her brother is at school.  She'll be pampered like the little princess she is.  We finally decided we'd let her get her hair cut, since she's been asking for awhile along with getting her nails done for the first time.  And lastly we'll go out and pick out a super cute leotard for when she starts gymnastics.  Check out a couple of photos below of the Barbie cake I made for her along with a few other special memories.

Okay back to this outfit now.  It really makes me feel like I'm back in the 90s, but better this time!  Last time I was sporting 90's fashion, my parents picked them out and they weren't as cute!  I also love how I've finally accepted that mixing prints does actually work!  My husband gave me the funniest look when he saw me carrying my leopard bag while wearing red plaid.  He's learned to just smile and take my photos!

I love how it all came together, from the ripped jeans to my super cozy plaid kimono.  I can already tell that this will be another go to outfit for me for running errands around town.  What are some of your favorite prints to mix together?

Happy Monday!

Friday Favorites

It's Fri-YAY!!!!!

1. This week has been nothing but go go go for me.  The husband and I decided to work on our garden a little to make it look better (we both aren't very talented when it comes to yard work!).  Now I'm hoping that we don't kill our new flowers!

(Aren't these lilies gorgeous?!)
2.  I've also been busy getting everything ready for my daughter's 4th birthday party tomorrow.  She officially turns 4 on Tuesday, but we'll be celebrating with family and friends tomorrow.  I still can't believe this little girl is 4 already, I swear it feels like I was just pregnant with her.  So stay tuned to next week when I show off her Barbie birthday cake she's been begging for!

(The gumpaste flowers and ribbon swirls I've made so far)
3. This weather!  This week has given me a taste of Fall and I'm loving it.  Too bad it's supposed to go back up to the high 80's next week.  But at least I was able to break out a few Fall favorites.

That's all I've got for today...I've got to get bake to this cake to make my little girl happy!  I hope everyone has a great weekend and I look forward to posting more outfits next week!

Plaid Meets Tweed

I love this taste of Fall weather we are getting right now.  If I could find a place where it was 70s year round, I'd pack my bags and move there today!  The weather has been so perfect this week that the husband and I decided to do some yard work yesterday.  Well okay, I decided I wanted to trim some of the crazy bushes we have, he came home saw what I was doing and the next thing I know, we're at Lowe's.  My body is now yelling at me telling me I was an idiot of doing yard work, but so far the front yard looks a lot better than it did.

I am totally obsessed with this top.  Several months ago I was at an event where a local boutique (Merchant 31) was at and they had this top there.  Sadly, (for my bank account), they just had way too many cute clothes that I loved.  So this top was put on hold, until recently!  I just love the light weight, the pattern and the fact that I can make it a 3/4 sleeve or have it long.  For today, I opted for the 3/4 sleeve look and tied the "tails" around my waist for a more casual look.

To keep the casual look going, I paired it with these skinny boyfriend Jeans.  I rolled them up to showcase my favorite sandals.  But because I didn't want this outfit to be too casual, I dressed it up using my accessories.  This super cute hip bag is a retired items from the Miche collection (but stay tuned for a future post about this bag..*goofy grin*), and I love the black/white tweed.  It's such a simple little bag, but it really dresses up an outfit.  Of course I can't complete my outfit unless I have my jewelry on and if you've been following me for long, you know I'm a sucker for "arm candy".  I love layering bracelets.  And lastly my favorite little snake ring that I have been pairing with every outfit since I bought it!  (Check here and here for other posts about it and where to buy it!)

Now time to get back to party decorating for my daughter's upcoming 4th birthday party.  Follow me on here or check out my Instagram page for my life behind the scenes!

Playing with Colors

Hello Monday!

I hope all you lovelies had an amazing weekend.  I spent the weekend with my family and went to my husband's work picnic.  The weather was perfect which made for a fun weekend.  Now I'm looking forward to this coming week, the weather is supposed to cool off a little so I can finally break out my jeans a little!

Today's outfit is all about fun and colors.  This top is actually from last year, but it's still pretty popular and it's so much fun to see how you can change it up.  I love this shade of purple and how it really makes the coral necklace pop.  Then to add some more fun colors I added this fun bucket bag from Miche.  I'm a sucker for butterflies and I just love the yellow colors.

I've been obsessed with gold jewelry for the last year or so and it only seems to grow.  Since the necklace was such a stand out piece, I wanted to keep the rest of my jewelry toned down.  So I added these simple bangles and of course my newest obsession... my Chloe & Isabel snake ring.

Summer Lovin'

I love when you can take an article of clothing that's meant for one season but use it in another.  That is probably one of my favorite things about the new style "rules".  There are no rules!

At a recent sale with Merchant 31, I stopped in (because really who can resist a sale?!) and did some browsing.  Which btw, with a 3 year old in tow it makes it a lot more interesting!  She thinks I need to buy everything!  While checking out the sale rack I noticed this amazing crochet cardigan.  I about squealed when I noticed it was my size and it was the last one.  Now there is a few things I love about this.  One the color is just gorgeous, and that's saying something because I prefer darker tones, two it will work with just about anything in my closet and lastly it's the perfect summer to fall transition top.  I can wear it during the summer months and not pass out from heat exhaustion, because of the wide crochet holes.  Then I can easily transition this into the cooler months with some skinnies and a long sleeve tee.  Either way this top is a total win win in my book!

And there is just something I love about wearing heels and shorts.  Even though I already have long legs, adding the heels on top of that just gives me that more modelish look I've always wanted!  Keeping the jewelry a little more understated gives this look the perfect casual pre-fall feel.  So expect to see this cardigan on constant repeat this coming Fall/Winter!
